Submission Guidelines

Update (29/12/2006): We're putting in a concerted effort to clear the extensive backlog of submissions - please bear with us! The good news, however, is that our Page Rank is now as high as 4 in places, so those links that are approved will benefit. We think. We don't pretend to know exactly how these search engine things like Google work. Update (07/12/2005): We've been overwhelmed by the response to the launch of JamJaa.com - many thanks to all of you who have submitted to the directory. We want to take this opportunity to outline why some submissions are accepted and some are declined. THE GOOD: JamJaa.com • Title is the domain name; URL is the main page, description is short and does not include motivate/subjective words like 'best', 'cheapest', etc.; site is referred to in the third person, rather than the first person (that is, we can't accept descriptions with 'our', 'we', etc) THE BAD: Web directory • Title isn't the domain name; description includes 'fantastic' and 'very best'. If your site is made a Featured Link then we'll put the emotive words in, honest! THE UGLY: FREE WEB DIRECTRRY - FREE LINKS • Title isn't the domain name; title and description are littered with spelling mistakes; URL isn't the main page. |
Browse through the JamJaa.com directory and it won't take you long to notice an underlying theme - we're no Open Directory Project when it comes to the number of listings in our database.
That's because there's no point; we'll never have as many links as them or the big directories, so we'll concentrate on quality over quantity every time.
Is your link really top quality? Is it? Really? Then go ahead and submit - we'll be delighted to add it to the database if we agree.
However...are you just looking for another link to increase your Google Page Rank? Well if you're reading this as of December 2005 then you're not going to get much joy as we ourselves have a Page Rank of zero! But even when that creeps up, don't submit a link unless you genuinely believe it is a top-quality example.
There is some good news for webmasters and site owners - we don't ask for a reciprocal link (it's appreciated, but not necessary) and all link submissions are free. And we'll pick and choose our own Featured Links, so you don't have to worry about paying for them either.
Not only that, but you can submit your site to as many categories as you feel are appropriate. However, we'll just repeat that last word: appropriate. We're thinking two or three here. Anyone submitting to many more than that risks getting all submissions deleted, especially if they are made to inappropriate categories.
Another thing to keep in mind is that we're family friendly, so absolutely no "pron", gambling, illegal goods or services, hate sites or that kind of thing.
And no all-affiliate sites. We don't have anything at all against affiliate schemes - we use them ourselves all the time - but sites established purely and simply to gain affiliate link clicks are highly unlikely to pass our lofty but frankly arbitrary standards.
A word on your privacy: we don't sell or rent out your email addresses, but will send you the occasional note regarding our site and services. We won't send emails including all third-party commercial content (that is, we won't send all-advert emails).
